Jamar Taylor, a former 2nd round pick for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL, embarked on a remarkable journey that led him from the gridiron to the realm of real estate and development. Guided by the timeless mantra, "How you do anything is how you do everything," Jamar's unwavering commitment to excellence has been the cornerstone of his athletic and business ventures alike.

Beyond his illustrious professional career, Jamar is deeply devoted to community upliftment. This commitment culminated in the founding of the Jamar Taylor First Chance U Foundation, a beacon of hope dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of others. As the CEO and co-founder, alongside Therren Wilburn, Jamar's leadership has propelled the First Chance U Foundation to remarkable heights.

His dedication to building not only a thriving real estate portfolio but also a stronger, more resilient community underscores his profound commitment to societal betterment. Jamar’s principles of excellence, empowerment, and community enrichment converge to create a legacy of lasting impact through the First Chance U Foundation.

Mackenzie Taylor is a former Boise State University Division-1 track and field athlete. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication with an emphasis on journalism and video production. Mackenzie is not only a former student-athlete, but she is also what we call a "swiss army knife". She has an entrepreneur mindset, and her creativity is what makes her an asset to our team. She is a Media Manager, UGC creator, and writes and illustrates children's books. Mackenzie's well-diverse background and her willingness to give bring uniqueness to the foundation and the Marketing Committee

Therren Wilburn, a distinguished graduate of San Jose State University with a Master's degree in Sport Management, brings a wealth of expertise and passion to the sports industry, particularly in interscholastic and collegiate sports. With a diverse background encompassing experience in interscholastic, collegiate, and intramural sports, Therren is a versatile sport manager with a demonstrated capacity for growth in the field.

Currently serving as an educational-based athletic leader at one of California's most prestigious Private Schools in Santa Clara County, Therren's commitment to excellence and leadership is evident in his role. Moreover, as the co-founder of First Chance U foundation, alongside Jamar Taylor, Therren plays a pivotal role in the success of this nonprofit organization.

Therren's vision and dedication have been instrumental in transforming First Chance U into a thriving nonprofit, dedicated to empowering student-athletes. His leadership, alongside Jamar Taylor, has steered the organization towards achieving its mission of providing opportunities and support for aspiring student-athletes, thereby making a significant impact in the community and beyond.

Cecila Wilburn, a graduate of UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Legal Studies, brings over 8 years of experience in tech sales and business development to her role. As a dedicated leader at First Chance U, Cecila exemplifies sharp business acumen and unwavering commitment to our mission. Her selflessness, strong work ethic, and active involvement in the community distinguish her as a pivotal figure within the organization. Serving as Treasurer of FCU and a key member of the finance and fundraising committee, Cecila plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our initiatives

Doug Trawick is a Helix High Alumni who brings great ideas to the non-profit world as he has worked with non-profits like the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA. Doug graduated from Fresno State University with a BA in Sport and Entertainment Facility Management, Recreation Administration, and a minor in Communications. Doug then went on to San Diego State to receive his MA in Public Administration. Doug is now the Operations Executive Director at San Luis County YMCA. With more than ten years of experience, Doug brings the intellect and expertise First Chance U needed to become the non-profit we envision. Doug's willingness to reach back to his community is second-to-none as he's been giving back to the San Diego community since high school. Doug brings the knowledge on how to maximize our full potential as a non-profit.

Doug Trawick is  a dedicated member of the First Chance U finance and fundraising team, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization. Douglas graduated from California State University - Fresno in 2012 with a BS in Recreation Administration and Communication Minor. He then went on to complete his Masters in Public Administration with a non-profit focus at San Diego State University in 2015. His contributions extend beyond his role, as he consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence and a passion for our mission. Doug's proficiency in finance not only bolsters the effectiveness of our financial strategies but also enhances the overall operational efficiency of First Chance U.

Trey Young is another San Diego native and Helix Alumni on our committee and has been giving back to the world of sport for more than 15 years. Trey is a graduate of the University of Montana with a BA in Business Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services and a minor in Media Arts. Trey has professional sports experience in the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he played for eight years. Trey has put on numerous football camps through his "Official Player Watch" program, where they do mock NFL combines for high school football athletes to help them get recruited to colleges through their recruiting database. Trey has also coached high school football in the Seattle area for numerous years. With Trey's experience, we know we are putting forth our best efforts when helping high school students on and off the field.

Latriece Youngblood gives us a unique view from the medical side of student-athletes and sports. “Latriece works as a Hospice Aide at Kaiser Permanente and finds her passion in giving back in the educational space. She has a heart for doing the part of giving back the public eye does not always see. Whether it's feeding the homeless, book clubs, or giving to women in need, Latriece possesses the attitude and the willingness to reach the masses. Her background in the medical field ensures we follow safety guidelines that are needed when working with student-athletes on and off the field (especially following Covid-19 protocols).
