2025 WINNERS

We’re proud to announce Hannah Gorham of Robert Eagle Staff Middle School in Seattle, WA and Teresa Gilchrist of Hamilton High School in Chandler, AZ as the recipients of our 2025 First Chance U Teacher Grants.

Hannah leads an award-winning, inclusive middle school music program that prioritizes historically marginalized students and fosters a true sense of belonging through high-quality arts education. Beyond the classroom, she chairs her school’s Race and Equity committee and serves on the building leadership team, helping guide budgeting, staff development, and schoolwide goals. Hannah is a trusted, respected leader in her school community whose work reaches far beyond the music room.

Teresa is a dedicated visual arts teacher committed to creating opportunities for her students despite increasing class sizes, shrinking resources, and rising material costs. She plans to use her grant to purchase much-needed ceramics supplies, including advanced glazes, paints, and studio essentials not covered by school funding. Teresa’s passion and resourcefulness ensure her students continue to have access to meaningful, creative experiences in her classroom.
